Christian Mingle -Movie review

Image
~Christian Mingle~ -a movie review- I'm not going to lie I was really disappointed with this movie! I borrowed it from a friend for Valentines day and only got to watch it this last weekend. Here is the trailer in case you've never heard of it. Age Group?: 12 and up. Depending on your preference Why?: There was kissing and lying. I was really excited to watch this movie, because I had seen both the guy and girl in other movies and really liked them. So I asked my friend if we could borrow it and she let us. (she hadn't even seen it herself. Which I didn't know! But she let us borrow it anyway!) So we had a sleepover with some friends and wanting to watch a sappy romance movie we thought this would be just the ticket! And so we popped it in! A hour and fifteen minutes later....We were all very disappointed and discussed what we thought about it... Here were some of the problems. The humor was cheesy. I'm talking those moments when someone make...

Review of The Hunger Games by Suzanne Collins

Image
The Hunger Games By: Suzanne Collins   In the ruins of a place once known as North America lies the nation of Panem, a shining Capitol surrounded by twelve outlying districts. Long ago the districts waged war on the Capitol and were defeated. As part of the surrender terms, each district agreed to send one boy and one girl to appear in an annual televised event called, "The Hunger Games," a fight to the death on live TV. Sixteen-year-old Katniss Everdeen, who lives alone with her mother and younger sister, regards it as a death sentence when she is forced to represent her district in the Games. The terrain, rules, and level of audience participation may change but one thing is constant: kill or be killed.  Age group: 14 and up What reason?: Violence and Romance So between the movies and the books I'm going to smother you with reviews!  So, I saw the movie first because it was on Netflix and a friend asked me if I had seen it, after sayi...

Review of Divergent by Veronica Roth

Image
Divergent by: Veronica Roth   If you are careful about what you read then my ultimate advice to you about this book is.... Don't read it. It's really hard to write a review on something that you just don't recommend, but I shall try my hardest. In Beatrice Prior’s dystopian Chicago world, society is divided into five factions, each dedicated to the cultivation of a particular virtue—Candor (the honest), Abnegation (the selfless), Dauntless (the brave), Amity (the peaceful), and Erudite (the intelligent). On an appointed day of every year, all sixteen-year-olds must select the faction to which they will devote the rest of their lives. For Beatrice, the decision is between staying with her family and being who she really is—she can’t have both. So she makes a choice that surprises everyone, including herself. During the highly competitive initiation that follows, Beatrice renames herself Tris and struggles alongside her fellow initiates to live ou...

Book review: Unspoken by Dee Henderson

Unspoken     by:Dee Henderson Charlotte Graham is at the center of the most famous kidnapping in Chicago history. The task force of Fbi and local cops found her two abductors, killed them, rescued her, but it took four very long years. The fact she was found less than three miles from her home, had been there the entire time, haunts them. She's changed her identity, found a profession she loves, and rebuilt her life. She's never said a word--to the cops, to her doctors, to family--about those four years. A family legacy has brought her back to Chicago where a reporter is writing a book about the kidnapping. The cops who worked the case are cooperating with him. Her options are limited: Hope the reporter doesn't find the full truth, or break her silence about what happened. And her silence is what has protected her family for years. Bryce Bishop doesn't know her past, he only knows she has coins to sell from her grandfather's estate--and that th...
